SARDINIAN FILIGREE WEDDING RING
SARDINIAN FILIGREE WEDDING RING
Legend says it that the first Sardinian wedding ring was forged by the Janas, fairies who lived in the wild and isolated corners of the island in the Nuragic age. They lived in the Domus de Janas (Houses of the fairies) and here they worked the filigree rings and jewels of all kinds, set with precious stones typical of the island such as coral or obsidian. These jewels were worn by the fairies on their special occasions, such as meeting the divinity. Here the Sardinian faith takes on a high, mystical, otherworldly meaning: even today women recognize its value and wear it with respect. This object therefore has something magical about it. Even the custom of wearing it only on the left ring finger is not accidental.
